Read the entire leaflet carefully because it contains important information for you. This medicine is available without prescription. However, in order to achieve the best possible treatment success, METIFEX 200 mg must be used properly.

1. What is Metifex 200 mg and what is it used for?

Metifex 200 mg is a means for preventing and treating acute diarrhea diseases. Metifex 200 mg is used for the prevention and treatment of unspecific diarrhea, e.g. Summer and travel diarrholes.

2. What do you need to consider before taking Metifex 200 mg?

Metifex 200 mg must not be taken if you are hypersensitive (allergic) against EthacridinLactate monohydrate or any of the other ingredients of metifex 200 mg.

Take special care with Metifex 200 mg:
In the therapeutic application, the restriction should apply that metifex 200 mg dietary measures are not replaced and that if no significant improvement occurred after 3 days, a doctor is to be consulted to initiate specific therapy. In particular, in case of diarrhea, which accompanies with blood petitions or temperature increase, a doctor should be consulted. Specific infection and invasion diseases of the gastrointestinal tract such as salmonella infection, Ruhr, cholera and amöbiasis require special treatment by the doctor. Metifex 200 mg causes harmless yellow staining of gastric and intestinal content.

Children:

Pregnancy and breast feeding period:
Pregnancy:
There are no data from man to apply Metifex 200 mg in pregnancy and only insufficient animal experiments. Therefore, you may not take METIFEX 200 mg in pregnancy unless your doctor considers it clearly.

Latving:
It is not known if Metifex 200 mg merges into breast milk. Therefore, you must not take METIFEX 200 mg during lactation, unless your doctor considers it clearly.

This medicine contains glucose and sucrose. Please take Metifex 200 mg only after consulting with your doctor if you are familiar with any intolerance to certain sugars.

3. How to take Metifex 200 mg?

Always take Metifex 200 mg exactly as directed in this leaflet. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is: teenagers over 10-14 Years receive a daily 2 times 1 tablet (400 mg EthacridinLactate monohydrate). Adults and adolescents over 14 Years take 3 times 1 tablet on the 1st and 2nd disease day (600 mg of EthacridinLactate monohydrate). From the 3rd day of the disease, 2 times 1 tablet (400 mg of ethacridinlactate monohydrate) can be reduced daily. For heavier disease states, the dose of daily 3 times 1 tablet (600 mg of EthacridinLactate monohydrate) to be maintained over several days. For prevention, the intake of daily 1 is recommended Tablet (200 mg of ethacridinlactate monohydrate).

Type of application:
Please use Metifex 200 mg tablets so far with liquid after eating. When traveling you start with the preventive treatment already a few days before it starts. With acute diarrhea, treatment should be started immediately. A special diet is usually not required.

Duration of application:
In general, with acute cases, a 2-3-day intake for normalization of intestinal activity is sufficient. Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of metifex 200 mg is too strong or too weak.

If you take a larger amount of metifex 200 mg than you should:
Overdose phrases After taking EthacridinLactat monohydrate, neither adults nor young people are known. Since the active substance is recorded only in minimum amounts of the body, overdose phenomena are not to be expected.

If you forget to take Metifex 200 mg:
Please do not take more than the recommended number of tablets at the next take-in time, but continue taking how described in the dosing instructions.
